A CFD Simulation on the Performance of Slotted Propeller Design for Various Airfoil Configurations

The usage of slots has gained renewed interest in aerospace, particularly on propeller design. Most the works have focused improving aerodynamic performance and efficiency. Modern research design aims to propellers with high thrust under low torque conditions without any weight penalty. Although slotted been done before, none understand its impact different airfoils blade. Thus, this study provide extensive various airfoil properties such as Reynolds number, symmetrical, asymmetrical lift, drag. This work investigated using computational fluid dynamics method predict for a small-scale propeller. blade designs' is presented terms coefficient, power efficiency, ratio. Here, APC Slow Flyer blade's diverse types shape position slot fixed which square-shaped at 62.5% chord length. flow simulations are performed through three-dimensional dynamic software (ANSYS Fluent) determine ratio measured advancing conditions. Findings show that composed lift can benefit most slots' implementation. These improvements were 19.49%, 69.13%, 53.57% 111.06% thrust, power, efficiency trust respectively.
